Council Finalizes Summer Staffing and Approves Equipment Purchase
April 8, 2026 Council Meeting Summary Council addressed financial approvals, correspondence, and seasonal staffing at its April 8 meeting. The session included updates from staff and preparations for the upcoming summer season. Council reviewed the Recreation Director’s April report, and Water Plant Operator D. On April 15, during National Canadian Film Day, the Gull Lake Tourism/Economic Development Committee premiered a new six‑part history series at the SWT Lyceum Theatre. Blended Souls Coffee & Boutique Joins SPCA Jail & Bail, Supporting Regional Animal Care

Safety Alert – Vehicle Window Damaged Overnight
Swift Current Rural RCMP are investigating damage to a vehicle window caused by an unknown projectile in Gull Lake. The incident occurred during the overnight hours of June 27th, between approximately 12:00 and 1:30 a.m., and remains under investigation. Four-Day School Week Option Being Explored by Rural Southwest Schools
What’s Being Considered Rural schools in the Chinook School Division are beginning to explore whether a four‑day school week could work for their communities. Several School Community Councils have asked the division for information about alternate school‑week calendars and what a pilot program would involve. Break‑In at GoFer Hole Ice Cream Shop
The GoFer Hole Ice Cream Shop experienced a break‑in overnight, sometime between 8:30 p.m. last night and 9 a.m. today. Food items were taken, but no money was kept on the premises.
