Saskatchewan RCMP released provincial Operation Impact results for October 9–12, 2026, with Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan members — including officers from Swift Current, Maple Creek, Ponteix, and Leader — participating in the four‑day campaign. The initiative focused on impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, aggressive driving, and seatbelt misuse.

Across Saskatchewan, officers stopped 4,028 vehicles and issued 2,407 tickets, warnings, and vehicle defect notices.

Southwest Saskatchewan Results

Local detachments recorded 132 tickets, warnings, and inspection notices during the campaign. These included:

  • 68 speeding offences

  • 20 licence and registration offences

  • 20 vehicle condition and roadworthiness offences

  • 4 vehicle defect inspection notices

  • 7 distracted driving violations

  • 5 intersection offences

  • 2 aggressive driving offences

  • 6 other offences

Officers also laid two alcohol‑related impaired driving charges, recorded separately from the 132 tickets, warnings, and inspection notices. No additional roadside suspensions were issued locally.

Provincial Context

Province‑wide, Operation Impact resulted in:

  • 129 drivers removed from the road for alcohol or drug consumption

  • 38 criminal impaired driving charges

  • 56 alcohol‑related roadside suspensions

  • 35 drug‑related roadside suspensions

These numbers reflect ongoing concerns around impairment, speed, distraction, and improper restraint use—the four leading contributors to serious collisions on Saskatchewan roads.

Local Relevance

Highway 1 and southwest Saskatchewan highways see increased travel during long weekends, especially with family gatherings, agricultural work, and regional events. Enforcement campaigns like Operation Impact directly influence safety on these routes, where impaired driving, speeding, and vehicle condition issues continue to be leading concerns.

Saskatchewan RCMP and CTSS continue traffic safety enforcement throughout the fall.
