Safety Alert: RCMP Warn of Fraudulent Email Scam in Saskatchewan

Residents across Saskatchewan — including here in southwest Saskatchewan and Gull Lake — are being urged to stay alert after the Saskatchewan RCMP issued a warning about a fraudulent email circulating in the province.

Key Point: The email falsely claims you are under investigation for cybercrime and threatens arrest unless you respond.

The message directs recipients to a non‑RCMP Gmail address: carcmpgrca@gmail.com. RCMP confirms this email is not legitimate and is part of an impersonation scam targeting residents across the province.

What the Scam Looks Like

The fraudulent email:

  • Impersonates police

  • Claims you are under investigation for cybercrime

  • Threatens arrest if you do not respond

  • Directs you to a non‑RCMP Gmail address

Reminder: Legitimate police communication never arrives through Gmail accounts or threats demanding immediate contact.

What To Do If You Receive It

RCMP advises residents:

  • Do not reply

  • Do not click any links

  • Do not send personal information

  • Do not send money or gift cards

If you’re unsure whether an email is real, call 310‑RCMP to verify before taking any action.

Reporting Fraud

If you believe you’ve received a scam email or have been a victim of fraud, contact the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre:

Police‑related scams—including impersonation emails, fake warrants, and fraudulent payment demands—continue to circulate across Canada. Staying cautious with unexpected messages remains the best protection.

Community Reminder

As always, we encourage residents across southwest Saskatchewan—especially here in Gull Lake—to help keep one another informed. If you know someone who may be more vulnerable to online scams, or who might not see provincial alerts right away, please pass this information along.

A quick conversation between neighbours can prevent someone from clicking a harmful link or responding to a fraudulent message.

Staying aware and keeping each other informed continues to be one of the strongest protections our communities have.
