2025 Cocaine Bust Leads to Federal Sentence; Investigation Touched Multiple Southwest Communities

A drug‑trafficking case that moved through several Southwest Saskatchewan communities has resulted in a federal prison sentence for a former Swift Current resident. Mandel was sentenced in Swift Current Provincial Court Monday to 900 days in federal custody, according to court information.
33‑year‑old Lacey Mandel received the sentence after pleading guilty earlier this year to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Investigation Activity Across the Region
The matter began in February 2025 when RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Winnie Street East in Swift Current. Officers seized approximately 109 grams of cocaine, along with other items collected during the search.
As part of the investigation, police obtained a cell phone tracking warrant. That warrant documented Mandel travelling to Gull Lake and Kyle during the period under review. She was arrested later the same day at the Co‑op gas station on the South Service Road in Swift Current. Two other individuals were released without charges.
Additional Charges From Burstall Incident
The case expanded last week when an alleged fuel theft near Burstall led to further arrests. Mandel now faces 10 additional charges, including weapons‑related offences and possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking. She is scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday alongside co‑accused Vincent Zellar.
Court Orders
Weapons prohibition

Forfeiture of weapons seized during the investigation

Why This Matters
