A major exploration licence located just four kilometres north of Gull Lake was one of the key southwest parcels in Saskatchewan’s latest Crown oil and natural gas public offering, held on October 6. The licence, awarded to Millennium Land (444) Ltd., covers 2,640 hectares near the Gull Lake North, Suffield, and North Premier Upper Shaunavon pools — areas with long-standing development history and established infrastructure.

Millennium Land (444) Ltd. secured the parcel with a bonus bid of $2,663,897.20, making it the highest‑value parcel in the southwest portion of the offering.

Local Parcel Details

  • Parcel type: Exploration Licence

  • Company: Millennium Land (444) Ltd.

  • Area: 2,640.450 hectares

  • Bonus bid: $2.66 million

  • Location: Approximately 4 km north of Gull Lake

  • Geology: Adjacent to Gull Lake North, Suffield, and North Premier Upper Shaunavon pools

Exploration licences authorize exploration activity for two to five years. They do not guarantee drilling, but they commonly precede seismic surveys, geological evaluation, or other early‑stage work.

  • Highest lease bid: $269,367.57 for a parcel northeast of Eastend (Millennium Land (555) Ltd.)

  • Total area covered: 8,099 hectares

These parcels reflect continued industry interest in Shaunavon‑zone development across the southwest.

Provincial Overview

Across Saskatchewan, the offering raised over $29 million in revenue:

  • Lloydminster area: $11.37 million

  • Estevan area: $10.03 million

  • Swift Current area: $5.82 million

  • Kindersley area: $1.91 million

Highest bids province‑wide:

  • Exploration licence:   $9,995,200 for a 2,324‑hectare licence east of St. Walburg (Scout Energy Ltd.)

  • Lease:   $801,000 for a 64‑hectare lease northeast of North Portal (Hummingbird Energy Inc.)

Why This Matters for Gull Lake

The exploration licence north of town is the most direct local component of this offering. While exploration licences are early‑stage, they often indicate:

  • upcoming seismic or exploration work

  • renewed interest in Shaunavon formations

  • potential future development planning

  • increased activity for regional service companies

The southwest continues to attract steady investment, reinforcing Gull Lake’s position within an active oil and gas corridor.

Next Offering

The next Crown oil and natural gas public offering is scheduled for December 1, 2026. Gull Lake Events will continue monitoring provincial releases and southwest parcel activity.
