Ehealth Saskatchewan Warns About Health Card Text and Call Scam

A new warning from eHealth Saskatchewan highlights fake messages and calls telling residents their health cards are outdated. Scammers are contacting people by text and phone, claiming cards are expired or need immediate replacement, and directing them to click a link, update information, or pay a fee to keep access to health services.
These messages are not legitimate. Saskatchewan health cards have no fees attached — any request for payment is a scam.
The warning comes as the province prepares for its regular health card renewal period, with renewal stickers set to arrive in mailboxes starting in mid‑September.
What Residents Need to Know
Most Saskatchewan health cards expire December 31, 2026.
Cards with different expiry dates have the date printed directly on the card.
Renewal stickers are mailed automatically to eligible households starting mid‑September.
eHealth will never contact residents by text message or phone call about renewing a health card.
There is no charge to receive a health card or update your information.
How to Spot a Scam Message or Call
A message or call is likely fraudulent if it:
Includes an unofficial web address that resembles ehealthsask.ca
Comes from an international or unusual phone number
Claims to be from a “Health Card Service Centre” or any organization that does not manage Saskatchewan health cards
Creates urgency—suggesting you must act immediately to avoid losing coverage
Asks you to “renew” your health card through a link or text message
Requests payment, banking information, or personal details
eHealth Saskatchewan urges residents to stay vigilant and avoid clicking links or sharing personal information if they receive a suspicious message or call.

If you shared personal or financial information, contact the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre at 1‑888‑495‑8501 or your local police detachment. They can advise on next steps and help ensure your information is protected.
