Safety Alert: Fraudulent Court Summons Texts Circulating in Saskatchewan

A province‑wide scam continues to circulate across Saskatchewan, with residents receiving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from Saskatchewan Provincial Court or Saskatchewan Traffic Court.
The messages accuse recipients of committing a traffic violation and attempt to appear legitimate by including:
a police officer’s name
a judge’s name
a court case reference number
a supposed court date
One clear red flag: the texts do not include a court location, which legitimate notices always provide.
The texts include a link that claims you can deal with the issue online, but police say it leads to a fake website made to look like a government page.
How the Scam Creates Urgency
Scammers often use urgent wording — things like “final notice” or “final hearing” — to push people into reacting quickly. The goal is to drive recipients toward clicking the link and eventually providing personal information or money.
How Legitimate Notices Are Delivered
Residents should be aware of how real traffic or court notifications are issued:
Photo radar tickets are mailed through Canada Post.
Other charges are served in person by a police officer.
Courts and police do not notify individuals of charges or court appearances through unsolicited text messages containing website links.

Ignore the message
Delete it
Block the sender
Do not click any links
Do not provide personal or financial information
