Gull Lake saw another full house over the weekend as Dead Prairies Productions premiered The Killer Balloon 2: ’Til Death Do Us Part at the SWT Lyceum Theatre. The screening drew a sold‑out audience—the first theatre premiere in the company’s history.
The evening featured pre‑show activities, merchandise, and a 50/50 draw, with proceeds supporting the Swift Current SPCA. Founder Devon Oman said he appreciated the turnout and the continued encouragement from people who follow the grassroots film project.
Oman noted that the sequel was produced on a budget of under $200 and hopes the success of the night encourages others to explore their own creative ideas. Ticket sales for the premiere brought in nearly $2,500.
Dead Prairies Productions will return to the Lyceum later this month in partnership with the Rogue Cruisers for a community car show, barbecue, and a screening of the 1983 film Christine.
