The Gull Lake Town Council met for its regular session on October 8 in Council Chambers at 2378 Proton Avenue.

  • Previous Minutes:

    Council approved the minutes from September 24, 2025.


  • Monthly Financials:

    September 2025 statements were reviewed and approved.


  • Payments:

    Approved $75,858.03 in cheques, $21,456.32 in education property tax, and $20,629.31 in payroll.

  • Bylaw Enforcement:

    September report received from B. Lingenfelter.


  • Recreation:

    September report received from S. Kuntz.


  • Ambulance Services:

    Councillor Turton provided updates on the Gull Lake Road Ambulance.

  • SWMG (South West Municipal Government) Committee meeting notes (April 10, 2025):

    The South West Municipal Government Committee (SWMG) is a regional partnership of municipalities in southwest Saskatchewan. It’s not a collaborative forum where towns, villages, and rural municipalities in the region work together on shared issues like infrastructure, waste management, emergency services, and regional planning.

🏗️ Key Council Decisions


Investing in Infrastructure


  • Technology Upgrade:

    Council approved $4,612 (plus taxes) for new servers and workstations, helping staff work more efficiently and securely.


  • Sidewalk Improvements:

    • New Sidewalk Installation:

      Sletten Contracting will build a new monolithic sidewalk (a durable, single-pour concrete sidewalk) from First Street to Kreative Kidz Early Learning Center ($59,223.88 + taxes).

      Community Impact: Safer, accessible routes for families and children.


    • Sidewalk Replacement:

      RLB Construction will replace the monolithic sidewalk beside the Post Office ($35,604 + taxes).

      Community Impact: Smoother, safer pedestrian access near our busy post office.


Community Operations


  • Janitorial Services:

    Rekha Kaintura will provide weekly cleaning at Elk’s Hall for $250/month.

    Community Impact: Ensures the hall is clean and welcoming for events.


  • Town Foreman:

    Council approved an updated employment contract, supporting continued effective town maintenance.


Supporting Local Organizations


  • Donations:

    • $350 to the Gull Lake Legion (in place of an ad in the Military Service Recognition Book)

    • $1,500 to Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, specifically benefiting Gull Lake healthcare needs

      Community Impact: Direct support to veterans and healthcare in our town.


  • 2025 Sport, Culture & Recreation Grants:


    Council awarded a total of $9,943 in grants to:

    • Gull Lake Skating Club – $1,500

    • Gull Lake Library – $250

    • Gull Lake SCC – $2,000

    • Gull Lake Kinettes – $880

    • Kreative Kidz Learning – $1,025

    • Autumn House – $1,200

    • Gull Lake Curling Club – $1,000

    • Kids in the Kitchen – $1,500

    • RAC Programming – $588

      Community Impact: Supports programs and activities that make Gull Lake a vibrant place to live.

    Council meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. Please note: Council does not share meeting agendas online prior to meetings. Call the Town Office ahead of time for current meeting information before attending.

    Residents are welcome to ask questions, share concerns, or offer suggestions—either at meetings, by speaking directly with the Mayor or any Councillor, or by contacting the Town Administrator.
