Council Commits to X‑Ray Upgrade, Approves Community Tax Relief and Regional Agreement
The Gull Lake Town Council advanced several major community and infrastructure decisions during its July 8 and August 12 meetings.
Council committed $220,000 toward the preliminary $724,000 upgrade of the community’s medical imaging X‑Ray equipment. The upgrade continues to be supported by the regional Fundraising Health Committee, formed by the Town of Gull Lake, the R.M. of Carmichael, the R.M. of Webb, and the R.M. of Gull Lake. The committee will actively pursue fundraising initiatives and seek community, corporate, and external support to help cover the committed municipal contribution. Council also repealed the Town’s Urban Chicken Bylaw (Bylaw 4‑2022), formally removing regulations on keeping chickens within town limits.
In August, Council approved tax cancellations for three community organizations: $4,287.27 for the Gull Lake & District Cultural Co‑operative, $2,615.62 for the Gull Lake Seniors, and $4,430.42 for Autumn House Independent Living Facility Inc. Council also authorized a $4,900 repair to distribution pump #2 at the Water Treatment Plant and signed the Farm Credit Canada (FCC) AgriSpirit Fund Funding Agreement to support future infrastructure projects.
A one‑year agreement was approved with the Town of Shaunavon to provide Regional Bylaw Enforcement Services from August 31, 2026 to August 31, 2027.
