Council Advances Policy Overhaul, Approves Property Sales in June Meetings
The Gull Lake Town Council moved ahead with several financial and administrative decisions during its June 10 and June 24 meetings.
Council approved a $7,000 contract with People First HR Services to complete a comprehensive rewrite of the municipality’s policy manual. People First HR Services provides policy development and HR advisory support to municipalities and organizations across Canada.
Council also finalized the sale of two tax‑title properties. 427 Main Street was sold to R. Figley for $2,555, and 3372 Rutland Avenue was sold to A. Nickel and S. Logan for $25,000. Both properties were sold on an as‑is, where‑is basis.
Financial approvals included cheques #26250–#26294 totaling $104,090.38 and Education Property Tax remittances of $5,151.69 at the June 10 meeting. At the June 24 meeting, Council approved cheques #26295–#26347 totaling $88,560.49, along with payroll EFTs of $5,300.
Council received written reports from the Recreation Director, Bylaw Enforcement Officer, and Economic Development Officer, along with updates from the Tourism and Health Committees. Correspondence filed included the Chinook Outlook newsletter, Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council AGM information, Ducks Unlimited correspondence, notes from the SW Municipal Government Committee, and a public health inspection report for the Whitecap Pool.
A special meeting is scheduled for June 30 at 6:00 p.m. to review the Town’s 2026 operating budget. The regular meetings planned for July 22 and August 26 have been cancelled.
Other business included approving a $200 refund for a cancelled business license and authorizing a letter of support for the Canadian Forces Snowbirds’ “No Pause” Campaign. Council also approved hiring Emmerson Wiens as a lifeguard at the Whitecap Pool at $18.00 per hour.
Council meets twice monthly, with meetings open to the public.
