Council Adopts New Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw, Approves Pool Upgrades and Infrastructure Payment

The Gull Lake Town Council advanced several key planning and infrastructure decisions during its September 9 meeting, including the full adoption of the Town’s updated Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw.
Council completed all readings of Bylaw No. 1‑2020 (Official Community Plan) and Bylaw No. 2‑2020 (Zoning Bylaw), formally adopting both documents. A public hearing was held earlier in the evening, with no submissions received and no attendees present. The adoption of these bylaws sets the foundation for future land‑use planning, development, and community growth.
Council authorized entering into an agreement with McElhanney Ltd. for professional services related to reviewing and amending the Zoning Bylaw, supporting the implementation phase of the newly adopted planning documents.
Administrative Updates
Council approved Administrator Waiser’s attendance at the UMAAS Fall Workshop in Swift Current on October 5, a professional development session hosted by the Urban Municipal Administrators Association of Saskatchewan.
Infrastructure & Operations
Several operational items were addressed, including approval of an agreement with Paradise Pools to replace nine pool skimmers, which remove debris from the water surface and are essential for circulation and filtration.
Council also approved a payment of $158,097.30 to New Line Trenchless Technologies for completed trenchless sewer rehabilitation work, which restores aging underground lines without excavation.
