Council Approves Scholarships, Curling Club Funding, and 2026 Pool Fees

March 25, 2026 Council Meeting Summary


Policing and Operations Updates


Cpl. John MacKenzie attended at the start of the meeting to provide policing updates. Water Plant Operator D. Vold joined immediately afterward to provide operational updates. Council also received written reports from the Bylaw Enforcement Officer, the Economic Development Officer, and the Administrator.


Financial and Administrative Decisions


Council approved the March 11 meeting minutes, the February financial statements, and monthly accounts totaling $39,241.53. Council also reviewed and filed correspondence from Stark & Marsh, the Gull Lake Library Board, Municipal Revenue Sharing, SUMA, and the Permit to Operate a Waterwork.


Community Funding and Scholarships


Council approved a $500 Bronze Sponsorship for Southwest Chronic Disease Support Inc. Council confirmed its annual two $500 scholarships for Grade 12 graduates entering post‑secondary training. Council also approved a $2,000 Health Science Scholarship, jointly funded by the Town of Gull Lake and the RMs of Gull Lake, Carmichael, and Webb.


Training and Convention Attendance


Council authorized Administrator Emella Waiser to attend the 2026 UMAAS Convention in Saskatoon from June 2–5.


Recreation and Facility Support


Council approved a $15,000 contribution to the Gull Lake Curling Club for plant repairs and building updates, conditional on the club submitting current financial statements. Council approved the 2026 Whitecap Swimming Pool user fees, lesson fees, and booking rates for the upcoming season.


Infrastructure and Municipal Operations


Council approved berm maintenance at Lagoon Cell 1 at a cost not exceeding $6,000. Council granted Councillor Haithwaite a leave of absence effective March 25.

Council approved a building permit for Lots 9–13, Block 70, Plan F4769.


Council meets twice monthly, with meetings open to the public.
