Third and Final Phase of Inactive Well Program Gets $55M

The Government of Saskatchewan announced today that the Accelerated Site Closure Program (ASCP) has reached its final phase, with an additional $55 million in cash being made available to eligible companies.


As of November 30, 2021, firms had been awarded $316 million in contracts to hire Saskatchewan-based service workers for site closing activities. Regionally, financing for work packages distributed across the province's oil and gas producing regions includes the following:


  • Estevan: $107 million

  • Swift Current: $51 million

  • Kindersley: $50 million

  • Lloydminster: $108 million
