Gull Lake will have a proud connection at this year’s Sask First Female U18 Top 80 Tournament, with local athlete Ally Stusrud earning an invitation to the provincial showcase running April 10–12 in Balgonie.
Stusrud joins a strong southwest contingent selected from across the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA system and surrounding programs. The Top 80 event is a key evaluation stage for athletes aiming to advance to Team Saskatchewan’s summer camp, where the top 30 players will move forward for final consideration.
This year’s regional representation features players from Swift Current, Eston, Assiniboia, Beechy, Gravelbourg, and, notably, right here in Gull Lake. For a small community like Gull Lake, seeing a local player recognized at this level is a meaningful point of pride and a reminder of the talent growing across the southwest.
The Sask First program has long been a stepping stone for athletes pursuing higher-level hockey, and Stusrud’s selection places her firmly on that path. Gull Lake will be cheering Ally on as she competes among the province’s best.
