Job Search Safety Tips

A steady reminder for anyone applying to local or regional job postings:

  • Never pay to apply. Legitimate employers do not charge fees for applications, interviews, or training.

  • Protect your personal information. Only provide SIN, banking details, or copies of ID after you have formally accepted a job and verified the employer.

  • Use official channels. Apply using the employer’s listed email or website.

  • Watch for unrealistic promises. Extremely high pay for minimal duties is a common red flag.

  • Verify the employer. Confirm the business has a physical address, phone number, and online presence consistent with the posting.

  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, pause and confirm before proceeding.
