Honoring Our Loved Ones, Strengthening Our Home: The Autumn House Memorial Wall

Updated: 4 days ago

Entrance of Autumn House with glass doors, sign above reads "Autumn House: Care Comfort Community." Building number 143. Calm atmosphere.

Autumn House announced on its Facebook page this week that it will be creating a Memorial Wall to honor loved ones from Gull Lake and surrounding communities who have passed on. Each plaque, engraved with a name and dates, will serve as a lasting tribute — a reminder of the people who shaped the lives of families across Gull Lake and its neighboring communities.

Every brick of Autumn House carries a story. Once the Gull Lake Community Hospital, this building has been a place of care, healing, and community for generations. Today, it continues that legacy as a home for independent living — and now, as a place of remembrance.

A Fundraiser Rooted in Care and History

Development Director Melissa Adrienne Hundt said the idea has been close to her heart since she began her role at Autumn House.

“This is something I’ve been wanting to put together since I started at Autumn House,” Hundt explained. “Our building has some major fixes and upgrades that need attention, so I thought why not do this as a fundraiser. I remember when this building was a hospital, and I’m sure many people have been treated here. I wanted to make this a community thing — to honor the history of the care this building has always given to our people, and still continues to.”

Each plaque is available for $100, with all proceeds going directly toward much‑needed repairs and improvements at Autumn House. Loved ones do not need to have been residents of Autumn House—this is a community project, open to anyone wishing to remember and honor someone special.

Continuing a Legacy of Care

The Memorial Wall is more than a fundraiser. It’s a way to carry forward the spirit of care that has defined this building for over a century. From its days as a hospital to its role today as a home, Autumn House has always been about people—their stories, their resilience, and their connections.

By adding a plaque, residents and families from Gull Lake and neighboring communities are not only remembering loved ones but also helping ensure Autumn House continues to care for and thrive with future generations.

How to Take Part

Plaques can be reserved by contacting Melissa at 306‑671‑0328.

The Memorial Wall will stand as a visible reminder that in Gull Lake and its neighboring communities, care and community go hand in hand—honoring the past while supporting the future of Autumn House.
