Gull Lake had plenty to cheer about this past weekend as hometown forward Jamie Kirwan delivered a standout performance at the Telus Cup Western Regional in Regina.
Held April 2–5, the tournament featured top U18 AAA teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. The Moose Jaw Warriors dominated the round robin, with Kirwan playing a key role—collecting multi-point games, earning Player of the Game honors against Thunder Bay, and scoring the Warriors’ only goal in Sunday’s final.
Although Moose Jaw fell 5–1 to the host Pat Canadians in the championship, the weekend capped a stellar season. The Warriors finished second in the SMAAAHL regular season, made a deep playoff run, and pushed Regina to a tight five-game final.
Kirwan’s individual campaign was equally impressive. The Swift Current Broncos draft pick tallied 36 points in 43 regular-season games, added seven assists in the playoffs, and even suited up for three WHL games—a milestone for any young player. His steady rise is a testament to Gull Lake’s supportive community and commitment to developing local athletes.
Fox Valley’s Tyler Hudec also represented the southwest on the Warriors’ blue line, contributing offensively throughout the season and playoffs.
For a small town, watching local talent skate on a regional stage is more than just a sports update—it’s a celebration of the hard work, talent, and community spirit that shape our youth. Gull Lake will be watching with pride as Kirwan continues his hockey journey.
