Community Support Powers Major Rink Upgrades Ahead of Ice Season

As preparations begin for another busy ice season, the Gull Lake Recreation Complex is celebrating a series of major plant upgrades made possible through the generosity of local municipalities, businesses, and community partners.

This fall, Tyson Migneault and Kyle Downey unveiled the rink’s new Closed Loop Compressor cooling system, a significant improvement that will enhance efficiency and reliability for years to come. In addition to the new system, upgrades were also completed on one of the compressors and the brine system—critical components that keep the ice surface in top condition.

The projects were made possible thanks to contributions from the RM of Gull Lake, RM of Carmichael, RM of Webb, and the Town of Gull Lake, along with Whitecap Resources Inc., Fast Trucking Service Ltd, Nitro Millwright Service, North American Helium, and Lonestar Energy Services.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the Gull Lake Recreation Complex emphasized that the upgrades would not have been possible without the support of municipalities, local businesses, and community members. The post highlighted the strength of the community, noting how residents and partners consistently step up to keep local facilities strong.

With the improvements now in place, the rink is ready to welcome skaters, players, and fans back for another season of hockey, figure skating, and community events.
