The off-season has been anything but quiet at the Gull Lake and District Curling Rink. As shared in a recent update from the Curling Board, the team has been hard at work tackling a full slate of challenges—from water damage and rodent issues to plant complications and hood upgrades—all with one goal in mind: getting the rink ready to welcome curlers back for another season.
“We’re currently hard at work making major repairs to our plant so that our rink will be ready to roll for the season! The plant repairs are expected to be completed by the end of November, and we’ll keep everyone posted as things progress,” the Board explained. “Thank you to all of our curlers for your patience, support, and enthusiasm—we’ll keep everyone updated as soon as our plant repairs are finished and the season is ready to begin!”
The Board also highlighted the contributions of George Vaughan and Lonny Butts, recognized for their extensive hands-on support—including repairs, painting, cleaning, and general upkeep. “A huge thank you goes out to George Vaughan and Lonny Butts for going above and beyond... You have helped the board out immensely!” they shared.
With the rink on track for a winter opening, Gull Lake Events will continue to highlight local curling activities and community happenings as the season unfolds. For more updates straight from the Curling Board, visit the Gull Lake & District Curling Rink Facebook page.
