April 22, 2026 Council Meeting Summary

Council addressed operational updates, financial approvals, correspondence, and several spring‑season items at its April 22 meeting. Mayor Zanidean presided, with all councillors present except Coun. Haithwaite, who was excused under Resolution 26‑62. Coun. Wessner participated by phone.

Water Plant Operator D. Vold attended early in the meeting to present the March 2026 Waterplant Operating Report, offering a brief operational update. A written April report from Economic Development Officer L. Alliban was also received.

Council approved the minutes of the April 8 meeting, along with the March 2026 financial statements. Accounts were authorized for payment, including cheques #26127–#26159 totaling $44,508.21 and $5,300.00 in payroll EFTs.

Council reviewed and filed several items of correspondence, including the Chinook Regional Library 2025 Annual Report, which outlines a year of transition, financial stabilization, and expanded programming across the region; the Gull Lake Curling Club financial report, providing the club’s annual financial update; notice of the Southwest Municipal Government Committee Meeting on June 19 — the committee is a regional table of towns, villages, and rural municipalities that meets to coordinate shared issues and advocacy priorities; a petition to the Legislative Assembly calling for real‑time reporting of hospital service disruptions; and information from Cypress Hills Destination Area Inc. regarding its Board & Partners AGM and ongoing tourism partnership updates.

Council approved the 2026 back alley gravel program, awarding the work to Condor Enterprises. The annual List of Land in Arrears was acknowledged, with properties owing less than half of the previous year’s levy excluded from the list, as only larger arrears qualify for the tax‑enforcement process under provincial legislation.

A building permit for the construction of a deck on Lot 21, Block 56, Plan 102293771 was approved, subject to conditions outlined in the MuniCode Services Plan Examination Report.

Council meets twice monthly, with meetings open to the public.
