📊 Gull Lake in the Bigger Picture
Though Gull Lake doesn’t publish its own crime stats, it falls under the Swift Current Rural RCMP detachment, which has seen a modest rise in property crime across the region in 2025. According to recent RCMP reports:
Residential break-ins in Swift Current rose from 8 cases in Q2 2024 to 15 cases in Q2 2025.
Theft over $5,000 also increased, with many incidents involving unlocked garages or vehicles containing garage door openers.
Across Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdictions, non-dwelling break-ins (sheds, outbuildings) are on the rise, even as home break-ins have declined slightly over the past decade.
🛡️ What You Can Do
Local RCMP recommend a few simple steps to help protect your home:
Lock all doors and windows, even during the day.
Secure garage door openers and avoid leaving them in vehicles.
Install motion-sensor lights or basic security cameras.
Report suspicious activity — even small details can help solve a case.
This incident is a reminder that even in close-knit communities like Gull Lake, crime can happen — but awareness and vigilance go a long way. If you’ve seen anything unusual on Queens Avenue or nearby, don’t hesitate to speak up.
