Town Council Candidates Running in the Town By-Election
On October 20th, the Town of Gull Lake will hold a by-election to fill a vacancy. Bob Francis and Steve Haithwaite are the two candidates running. Both candidates have served on municipal committees and have previous council experience. Bob Francis is a member of the Southwest Transportation Planning Council's board of directors. Town of Gull Lake Receives $11,250 Grant For Regional Relationship Building
The Town of Gull Lake received a grant for $11,250 from the Provincial Targeted Sector Support Funding initiative. The TSS grant supports municipal projects aimed at building capacity, fostering good governance, and encouraging inter-municipal co-operation. The Town's project is focused on Regional Relationship Building. Building strong relationships with neighboring municipalities will help expand current levels of cooperation. Town Council Approves 2021 Tax Rates
Last week, Gull Lake residents received their 2021 tax notices. The mill rate factor remained unchanged from last year, and a 2.5% increase to the Base Tax was approved. The Infrastructure Base Tax used to pave streets also remained unchanged from last year. Typically, Infrastructure Base Tax Funds are used to pave streets every two years, and this year normally would have been a paving year. Town Council did not seek paving tenders for 2021, so there will be no street paving
