If you’ve spent some time in Gull Lake, you’ve likely heard the siren atop the Town Hall. For residents, it’s part of daily life. For visitors, it can spark questions. This guide first appeared in the now-discontinued Gull Lake Events Community Forum—where it became one of the most-visited posts, especially when the siren sounded—and has been revived here so anyone unfamiliar with our fire dispatch system can feel confident and informed.

🕛 The Noon Siren Tradition (Ended 2022)
Many of us long-time residents remember the noon siren that signaled lunchtime. Until 2022, it sounded once every day at 12:00 PM purely as a dinner bell—never a warning or emergency. Though discontinued, it remains a cherished slice of Gull Lake history.
🚒 Three-Minute Siren = Fire Call
When the siren blares continuously for three minutes, it indicates the Gull Lake Fire Department is being dispatched to an emergency. This alert is strictly for volunteer firefighters—there’s no need for the public to evacuate or take shelter.
📍 Location of the Gull Lake Siren
The siren is mounted on a tall pole directly behind Town Hall.
🤔 Clearing Up Visitor Confusion
Occasionally, guests at Campbell’s Accommodations reach out concerned about what to do—especially when the siren sounds during a thunderstorm. Most recently, I was at the campground when it sounded, and campers were unsure if it signaled severe weather. Rest assured, our siren doesn’t serve as a weather or disaster warning. There’s no need to head for your basement unless local authorities specifically advise it.
