🌱 About the Opportunity
West Country Energy Services is hiring a Summer Student Herbicide Applicator to support vegetation and weed control operations in the Gull Lake area. This is a great fit for students who enjoy working outdoors, learning new skills, and earning solid summer income.
Crews typically work in teams of one or two per truck, using advanced vegetation‑management equipment both locally and on the road.
🔧 Job Duties
• Apply herbicide according to training and safety standards
• Conduct weed inspections
• Complete field documentation using digital tools
• Use in‑field ticketing and online software
• Operate equipment such as:
• Truck‑mounted spray units
• UTVs
• Argos
• Tracked units
• Hagglunds
• Tractors
• Work both locally and on the road as required
🎓 Pre‑Employment Requirements
• Valid driver’s licence
• Standard First Aid & CPR (2‑day course)
• H2S Alive (1‑day course)
• Energetic, positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
All other training is provided, including:
• Herbicide application
• Off‑road UTV safety
• TDG
• WHMIS
• GPS/map reading
• Oilfield & powerline safety
💵 Compensation
• $20/hr starting wage (no experience)
• Higher wage available for applicants with herbicide or vegetation‑control experience
• Overtime at 1.5× after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week
• Days may run up to 12 hours
• When working out of town:
• Daily subsistence pay provided
• Lodging supplied by the company
