Saskatchewan's Early Childhood Educators Will See Wage Increase

Today, the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced a $9.6 million investment to pay qualified Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) in Saskatchewan an hourly wage increase of up to $3. The raise is retroactive to July 1, 2021.

Efforts will be made to develop a wage grid for ECEs across Saskatchewan. It is expected that the wage grid will be implemented by the end of the year 2022-23.

Nearly $1.1 billion is being invested in child care in Saskatchewan by the federal government. Within the next five years, the goal is to reduce the average cost of regulated child care to $10 per day.
