Position Type: Full‑Time


South West Terminal (SWT) is seeking a Grain Merchandiser to support grain purchasing, sales, contract execution, and market analysis. This role works closely with producers, customers, logistics, operations, accounting, and merchandising teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant grain movement and documentation.


About the Role


  • Support administration and execution of grain purchase and sales contracts

  • Coordinate contract activity with producers, customers, logistics, operations, accounting, and merchandising teams

  • Monitor grain positions, inventory, deliveries, shipments, and contract performance

  • Prepare and maintain accurate contract documentation, pricing, settlements, and commercial reports

  • Assist with inventory reconciliation, contract settlements, and issue resolution

  • Analyze grain markets, futures, basis activity, and grain positions to support merchandising decisions

  • Prepare and distribute daily grain pricing

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, customers, brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Canadian Grain Commission requirements, and applicable trade regulations

  • Support continuous improvement and other merchandising duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • Post‑secondary education in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Commerce, or a related field (asset)

  • Experience in grain merchandising, grain handling, logistics, or agriculture (preferred)

  • Knowledge of grain marketing, grain handling, futures markets, and crop inputs (asset)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; grain management software experience is an asset

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to build strong producer, customer, and industry relationships
