GLAA Recognizes Two Long-Standing Referees

Last night, GLAA recognized two of our long-standing referees in our community.

Blake Barsness and Kent Stenson were presented with gifts of appreciation for all of the countless hours they have given to officiating and the game of hockey in our community and in Southwest Saskatchewan.

Blake has officiated hockey in every rink in Southwest Saskatchewan and in many in West Central Saskatchewan.  Blake's countless hours of travelling to towns, officiating, and mentoring young referees need to be commended.

Thank you, Blake, for all of your time, effort, and dedication to the game of hockey.

Kent started reffing in Gull Lake when he was 14 years old. He has reffed many games over the years, not only in Gull Lake but he travels all over the Southwest. He also fills the role of Referee in Chief for our Athletic Association and spends many hours assigning games and mentoring our young referees on ice. In addition to this, he serves as the U11 Commissioner for our Southwest Sask Hockey League and umps ball in the spring and summer.

Thank you for all you do for our community.

Tracey McGregor Stenson
