Gull Lake EMS Christmas Basket Fundraiser

Gull Lake EMS is raising money to replace their 25-year-old manual stretcher with a new powered Stryker Stretcher. From the two-man lift stretchers used by ambulance workers 30 years ago to the one-man loading stretchers utilised today, stretchers have undergone significant evolution. Powered stretchers have the advantage over non-powered ones in that they can be raised and lowered without the help of EMS workers.

The stretcher is the most often used piece of medical equipment on every EMS call.

Dave Waiser, CEO of the Gull Lake Ambulance Service, said, "the new motorised stretchers are intended to enhance the safe movement and handling of patients and lower the risk of work-related injuries by minimising the amount of manual lifting necessary on ambulance calls".

The average cost of a new powered stretcher is around $40,000. Gull Lake Emergency Medical Services will be sponsoring a raffle to help raise funds for the new stretcher. A raffle for a gift basket with a value of more than $300 will be held by Gull Lake EMS beginning on November 1 and continuing through November 13. Tickets are 1 for $10 or 3 for $20. You can buy tickets by sending an E-transfer to glambulance@sasktel.net and a text message to Dave at (306) 672-7766 with your name and the number of tickets you'd want to purchase..
